Wharton State Forest
The largest State Forest east of the Mississippi River, offers volunteer opportunities for any interest. Pick your hours, days, and interest. Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge
In Medford, rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife for release, provides environmental education, tours, and lectures on native habitats, plants, and animals. Volunteers are needed for office work, fundraising, wildlife rehabilitation, and tours. American Cancer Society
With more than 20 Relay For Life events (including one at Lenape High School and one at Cherokee High School) and two Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks in South Jersey, volunteers are needed to help with day of events logistics, registration, hospitality, activities/entertainment, mission delivery, fundraising and more. Both events focus on the journey of cancer survivors and the support of their caregivers. American Red Cross
Burlington County Chapter has administrative and/or direct program support roles available for all ages (13+) and on flexible schedules. Assistants are needed to help with data entry, course registration, and record-keeping. Drivers deliver mannequins and materials for lifesaving courses. Animal Welfare Association (AWA)
The Animal Welfare Association’s High School Service Week program is opened to local high school students who are seeking service hours to credit toward community service required by their schools. This is an especially great way for high school aged students to earn their required service hours for school while helping animals. Students will become oriented to AWA, the shelter world, and learn how they can make positive impacts in the lives of animals. We offer monthly High School Service Week sessions during the academic year. Students will have to sign-up to reserve their spot in advance as space is limited. Bass River State Forest
The State Park Service has a formal Volunteers In Parks. Recent projects include cleaning dumped trash out of the woods, developing a surfaced trail, removing tree seedlings from the septic field and replanting them, removing invasive species, trimming trails, marking trails w/our flexible trail markers, cleaning up trash from the edges of the lakeshore and wedding the flower beds. Indoor projects include staffing the office phones, filing, making copies of event flyers, signing people up for events, checking campers in and learning the administrative processes of running a state forest.. Burlington County Library System
Burlington County Library System, the oldest county library in New Jersey, seeks volunteers (18+) for general clerical work, fund raising and as members of Friends of the Library organizations. The Burlington County Municipal Alliance Network
Works with, and is funded by, the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and local government. We plan, coordinate, and conduct alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse prevention activities to benefit communities. There are 28 alliances serving 36 communities in Burlington County. Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA), New Jersey Chapter
A national non-profit voluntary health agency. Huntington's Disease (HD) is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder for which there is, at present, no effective treatment or cure. The mission of HDSA is to promote and support research directed at discovering a treatment and ultimately a cure for HD; to help HD individuals and their families through support and services at their three NJ clinics located in Stratford, Piscataway, and Newark; and to educate both public and health care professionals about HD. TEAM (Teens Exposing Alcohol Myths) a program of the Burlington County Coalition for Healthy Communities (BCCHC), administered by Prevention Plus of Burlington County, Inc. TEAM is a task force of teens whose mission is to "change the behaviors, attitudes, and environments of teens regarding alcohol use throughout Burlington County". TEAM is open to ALL Burlington County teens in the 7th-12th grades; and is looking for volunteers from all municipalities in the county to help them achieve their goals. TeenLine is a place where teens can call and talk to other teens about any problems, fears or stresses they are facing. Volunteers must be high school student 14 years old and up. Deborah Heart and Lung Center

Deborah Hospital Foundation

Deer Brook Swim Club
We at the DBSC would like to help out the students with offering options for earning community service hours. In an effort to work with the strengths of each student, we will have opportunities for students to volunteer in various club activities, including helping out with art projects and athletic programs. For example, a student strong in either tennis, swim, volleyball, soccer, basketball or just an overall outgoing student who would enjoy lending their expertise by taking some time to enhance the summer experience of the children involved in such activities. In addition to our newly appointed community service program, we will also be hosting a Battle of the Bands program. This program will offer a spot for the winner (or another band at the school, club and bands discretion) of each high school's Battle of the Bands to play at an event for Deer Brook Swim Club. Pedals for Progress
Provides basic transportation to the poorest people of the developing world with the Mid-Atlantic region’s surplus bikes. More than 11,000 bikes are shipped each year to 20 nations in Central and South America, coastal Africa, the Caribbean & Pacific Isles, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Bicycle Collection Managers and Helpers are 14 years of age and older. The schedule is 3-5 hours on Saturdays through spring and fall (April and May, September and October) The task is to work with volunteer groups and Pedals for Progress staff conducting scheduled one-day bike collection events. Duties include assisting civic, church, scout or school groups in preparation of donated bikes for shipping. Task involves rudimentary mechanical skills to remove pedals from bikes and turn handlebars sideways to make bikes as compact as possible to facilitate shipping in large numbers and controlling quality of preparation. Trinity Hospice
Two types of volunteer opportunities available: Patient Care Volunteers provide companionship to a patient and respite for patients caregivers. To do this, the volunteer typically makes friendly visits, reads to the patient, runs errands, and sometimes prepares light meals. Many times the most important service that a volunteer offers is simply being there for the patient and caregivers to listen, or to share quiet moments; and Administrative Volunteers provide volunteer services for specific assignments in the hospice. Examples are special projects, office filing, copying, computer work, letter writing or for those who choose, could be trained to provide bereavement support. Volunteers must be least 16 years of age, emotionally mature and compassionate. The volunteers must be able to work as a team player must demonstrate commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.
