Service Learning Class Volunteered at the Animal Adoption Center

Mr. Comerford’s Service Learning Class visited the Animal Adoption Center in Lindenwold this month. The students helped to clean out the dog kennels and the cat litter boxes. The students were able to help out by cleaning the office and the outside of the cages.  They filled food and water dishes too. Afterwards, the students were able to play with them and brush them. Many of the dogs don’t get much attention so this is a time in which they learn the socialization skills that will help make them more adoptable. Bonding with the animals has also been proven to help reduce stress and depression in humans, so the students get to benefit from this experience. The shelter, which is a no-kill shelter, has partnered with our school and now hosts our class on a regular monthly basis.
