Cherokee High School Celebrates Black History Month!
We will be recognizing Black History month with different quotes and sayings the last day of every week in February. Black History month was started in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson recognizing the achievements of African Americans in our country's history in February as it is the same birth month of both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas. Initially a week long, but changed in 1976 to a month long, focused on programs and activities celebrating and exploring the history of black Americans.
