Shawnee FCCLA was part of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America's (FCCLA) largest National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California from June 29th-July 4th. More than 8,700 attendee gathered to expand leadership skills, sharpen talents, explore career pathways, and listen to inspiring speakers. Over 4,700 members competed in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events at NLC. STAR Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparations. Shawnee had 8 participants in the STAR Events including, Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation, Interior Design, Illustrated Talk, Life Event Planning, and Sports Nutrition. After 2 tough days of competition, Shawnee was awarded 7 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal. It was a very successful week and we look forward to the opportunity to attend the 75th annual NLC next year in Washington, DC.
