The 61st Annual All-South Jersey Choral Festival was held at Investors Bank Performing Arts Center, Washington Township High School on January 26th & 26th. This year 14 Shawnee students performed in the 7th-9th grade & 10th-12th grade choruses.
For their finale, the 7th-9th grade chorus sang an arrangement of "Some Nights", and solos were given to the section leader for each voice part. 3 of those soloists were Shawnee 9th graders Adele Guth, Alyssa Levin, and Samantha Thomas. They each did a great job!
Additionally, each year the South Jersey Choral Director's Association awards scholarships to two seniors as they pursue higher education. This year, Shawnee senior Molly Flynn was awarded the Richard M. Smith Memorial Scholarship for Music Education. Students were selected through an another application and audition process. Congratulations, Molly! Well-deserved.
Mr. Joubert, Choral Director at Shawnee High School, added, “Molly has worked very hard over her years here, and it is fitting that she be rewarded for her dedication to refining her craft. We are extremely proud of her, and all of her accomplishments!”
Information regarding auditions for next year's All-South Jersey Chorus will be released in the fall. Congrats again to all of our Shawnee students!
