Requirements for Graduation

  • To qualify for a state-endorsed diploma, a student must have
    • completed the selected program of study appropriate to his/her needs and abilities
    • earned a minimum of 120 credits, including the required subjects listed on the Course Planning Worksheet (which includes electives that satisfy the Visual Performing Arts, 21st Century Life and Careers or Career-Tech Ed, and Financial, Economic Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy requirements).
    • met the state graduation testing requirements (see below)

    No course may satisfy more than one of the requirements. Course expectations (District and/or NJ State Student Learning Standards) will be clearly set forth in writing for any course required for graduation and will be available to the student or his or her parents/guardians upon request to the classroom teacher.

    The Board of Education will provide opportunities for remediation to students who fail to meet required proficiencies.

Graduation Testing Requirements

  • New Jersey regulations (N.J.A.C. 6A:8-5.1) require all students to demonstrate proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. To qualify for a high school diploma, students must meet the NJ High School Graduation Assessment Requirements.
