Lenape Regional High School District Welcomes New Board Member from Medford, Amanda Fitchett
During its reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 7, the Lenape Regional High School District (LRHSD) Board of Education welcomed Amanda Fitchett as a new member representing Medford Township. Fitchett won the November election for the seat and replaces Jennifer Levas. She brings to the Board a passion for LRHSD as an alumna, as well as 13 years of teaching experience. She spent the last seven years within LRHSD at Shawnee High School in the Special Education and Science departments.
“I’m truly honored to be elected by our community to represent Medford Township on the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education,” said Fitchett. “Grounded in my hands-on work with families, students and staff, I’m committed to advancing student success in an ever-evolving world. Together, we can ensure our schools prepare learners with the skills, responsibility and confidence needed for success today and in the future.”
Longtime LRHSD Board member David Stow, also a Medford Township representative, assisted with Fitchett’s Board orientation.
“We are excited about having Amanda join us as a member of the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education,” Stow said. “Former LRHSD Medford representative Jennifer Levas and Amanda Fitchett are both outstanding community members who truly understand the mission of the Lenape Regional High School District and the dilemma we face with continued state funding cuts.”
Fitchett has lived in Medford for the past 12 years with her husband and two children. She not only lives and has previously taught in the district, but she is also an alumna as a 2000 graduate of Cherokee High School.
As an educator at Shawnee, Fitchett has planned, organized and executed professional development for staff based on her areas of expertise working with students with special needs. A recent training examined ways teachers can support students with ADHD and neurodiversity in the general education classroom. Fitchett also shares her passion and knowledge as an adjunct professor at Camden County College, where she teaches in the Elementary and Secondary Education Department.
Fitchett was sworn in as a new LRHSD Board member during the Jan. 7 meeting. Also at this meeting, Sam Green was nominated to transition from his role as vice president to president. Green, who represents Shamong Township, steps into the role previously held by Charles Roseboro, who represents Southampton Township.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the next Board president,” said Green. “My intention is to continue to build on the legacy of those who came before me and always strive towards making LRHSD among the best districts in the state of New Jersey. I am pleased to work alongside a strong Board and welcome renewed energy, enthusiasm and ideas contributed by our newest Board members, like Amanda, to continue the success and innovation of our district.”
