PARENTS OF SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS (POSES)/
Parent Advisory Group (PAG)

The 2024-2025 school year is under way. We invite you to remain active in the educational experience of your son or daughter in school. If your son or daughter is a new student to our district, we WELCOME you to our parent group!
 
Please review the website for general information regarding the district's Child Study Teams, educational resources and additional community resources.
 
The Parents of Special Education Students (POSES)/ Parent Advisory Group (PAG) was created to:
  • provide parents, guardians and caregivers the opportunity to share input regarding special education programs and services in the school
  • increase community involvement and elicit input on relevant topics for future presentations and information sharing, and
  • facilitate communication for positive interactions with district and school staff.   
 

Meetings for all Parents of Special Education Students (POSES) will be posted here for your review and participation.  

2024-2025 Meetings

  • Transition to High School Meeting

    Presentation for new and 9th grade students and their parents.  Speakers will review Individual Studies course, Genesis Parent Portal, extra-curricular activities, guidance resources and Child Study Team resources
    •       October 22, 2024 at 6pm - VIRTUAL meeting

  • Navigating DDD Services 
  • Services through the Occupational Training Center (OTC)

    In person presentation for parents needing an introduction to and information on timelines for transitioning students with the Division of Developmental Disabilities as well as the Occupational Training Center beyond high school.

           November 14, 2024 at 6pm - at Lenape High School, Large Group Instruction Room

  • Former POSES Parents Share Graduate Student Experiences with Transitions to Adulthood

    • Virtual presentation by parents whose student has graduated LRHSD and utilized services such as DDD and DVRS in their transition to adulthood.  They will discuss their process, agency selections, and progress in obtaining specific DDD, DVRS and other services.

  • Navigating Disabilities Beyond High School with Disability Navigators, LLC

    • In-person and virtual presentation on long-term person-centered planning for parents and families living the transition journey with their students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS)

    • Virtual meeting on career, vocational and employment options for students with disabilities transitioning to adulthood beyond high school.

  • Special Needs Guardianship, Trusts, & NJ  ABLE

    • Virtual meeting on specific legal processes for families of students with disabilities, including guardianship, trust arrangements and the New Jersey Achieving a Better Life for Individuals with Disabilities Act (NJABLE).
