How to Contact BOE Members

We want to hear from you! Communication is key to resolving any concerns or issues you have with your student’s education. 

The chain of command for contacting public school officials typically varies depending on the specific issue or concern you have.  However, here is a general outline of the typical chain of command which you may use as a guide to assist you in the best possible manner, which will assist us in getting the person who can best respond to your needs:

1. Start with the teacher: If you have a concern about your student’s education or classroom environment, start by contacting their teacher directly. Teachers are often the first point of contact for parents, and they may be able to address your concern or point you in the right direction.
2. Contact the school counselor (or if applicable, case manager): If your concern is related to your student’s overall academic progress, college or career planning, or mental health, you should contact their high school counselor. High school counselors are trained professionals who can offer guidance and support to students and their families.
3. Contact the high school assistant principal: If your concern is not resolved by speaking with your student’s teacher or counselor or if your concern is about school procedures, you should contact the high school assistant principal. The assistant principal is responsible for overseeing student discipline, school safety, and other administrative matters.
4. Contact the high school principal: If your concern is still not resolved by speaking with the assistant principal, you can contact the high school principal. The principal is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school, including academic programs, school policies, and administrative matters.  
5. Contact the school district office: If your concern is not resolved by speaking with the high school principal or if you have a concern about the implementation of district policies, you can contact the district office. This may involve contacting the superintendent or a specific department, such as the curriculum department, student services department, transportation or the business office.  The superintendent is responsible for overseeing all schools within the district.
6. Contact the school board: If your concern is not resolved by the district superintendent or if you have a concern about district policies, you can contact the school board. The school board oversees the district's policies.
