BOE Student Representative Monthly Report

Lenape High School

Lenape's Senior Sunrise went great for Lenape having a turnout with hundreds of students coming before school for nice pictures and a complimentary breakfast. Also, Lenape will perform a Garba, which is an Indian dance event with cultural dress. This will allow students to learn more about Indian culture. It will be an afterschool event hosted by the Indian Culture Club and UNICEF on the 30th of October. Finally, Jessica Yao was nominated as a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist. They also had a staff underground spirit day with games and activities for the staff such as playing bingo through the loud speaker and participating in school-wide activities.

Cherokee High School

The Cherokee senior class of 2026 gathered at sunrise during the first day of the school year and joined together to take pictures and eat bagels and donuts. Also, during lunch and learn, a majority of the school's clubs and activities each set up stands as students browsed through looking to join a club or activity. Finally, during lunch and learn, the Cherokee choir sang together for the first time of the year, singing Ukuthula (Peace) in honor of International Day of Peace on September 21.

Shawnee High School

At Shawnee, the leadership academy has been meeting every Wednesday to train sophomores, juniors and seniors to be leaders throughout the building. They have been focusing on topics such as time management, roles in leadership and how to gain respect. Also, they had their pep rally on the 3rd of October before playing Cherokee last week which was also accompanied by a fun spirit week leading up to the game. At the pep rally the theme for homecoming was revealed to be Hawaiian themed. Finally, several students from AP Art, Creative Photography and Art Major went on a field trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary on October 1st.

Seneca High School

Seneca's theme/motto for this school year is "Seneca Serves," showing that Golden Eagles rise above, lift others and show that when they serve, they soar. Ultimately, this year-long initiative will challenge teams and clubs to create their own service event. They will cap off the end of the year with a hair donation (Locks of Love), a relay for life, and a blood drive. Also, Seneca recently had yearly student council interviews with a total of 52 interviewees and ultimately selected 14 new members across different grades. Finally, on Tuesday October 14th student council representatives attended the NJASE fall conference which was a state-wide student council event. There they learned about leadership and listened to representatives speak.
