Shawnee High School Girls Tennis Group 3 State Champions
BOE Student Representative Monthly Report
Lenape High School
At Lenape our JROTC, The Lenape Indian Battalion Raider Team, competed at the National Raider Competition held in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Our coed Raider Team went head-to-head with 89 teams representing 23 states and all four branches of the Armed Forces in the All-Service Mixed Division. This intense and demanding competition included a 5K run, 3 separate obstacle courses and constructing a one-rope bridge over a river! The team, led by Joseph Tete placed in the top 10 in two events which earned them an overall 5th place finish. This is the first time this historic National ranking has been held in the history of Lenape High School JROTC. We also had our first Underground Staff Spirit day, which will be taking place once a month. On these days, staff will participate in a secret theme and students have the opportunity to win prizes for guessing the theme. Finally, we held our powder puff football game, which the juniors won. It was a very fun and competitive game, where everyone brought their hard work and school spirit.
Cherokee High School
Cherokee filled their countdown to Halloween with multiple events for the school. They held their own “Little Chiefs Trunk or Treat” with the help of over 30 clubs and sports teams. They also held a successful homecoming and spirit week. As the fall sports season came to a close, Cherokee’s athletics had a lot of success. Many teams pursued strong playoff runs, highlighted by sectional championships won by Girl's Gymnastics and Girls Cross Country. Boys cross country capped their season off with a state championship, their third in five years. Lastly, Cherokee prepares for the holiday season, as they look forward to an amazing winter show, “White Christmas.”
Shawnee High School
Shawnee has also had an amazing run of fall sports, with four sports making it to sectional finals, and their girls tennis team having an undefeated season. Shawnee is also currently putting on their fall drama of “Clue”, which is an audience interactive play. They have their turkey trot/course selection fair coming up before Thanksgiving. The turkey trot is a fun relay race competition throughout the school. Students will go out to the football stands to watch themed relay teams race around the track. There are prizes given out to the winning teams & the most spirited teams! They will also be having an in-house open house for underclassmen to explore all of the different courses/electives available at Shawnee. Lastly, they are holding their student council volleyball tournament. Students from every grade are able to get together and create a team for the chance to compete for the grand prize!
Seneca High School
At Seneca, they just celebrated their homecoming, which came following a spirit week and immersive pep rally. They are also having a large focus on community service events, such as their safe trick or treat event that was held, where many clubs dressed up for the event and handed out candy to trick or treaters. They’ve also been busy with their ongoing food drive, and an upcoming blood drive with the Red Cross.
