BOE Student Representative Monthly Report
Lenape High School
Lenape's debate teams recently competed in local competitions. The junior varsity team placed first in their division and the varsity team finished in second place! Lenape's Red Watch Robotics team earned second place in their last competition, and they also won an award for the overall quality of their robot. Both girls and boys basketball teams made it to the State Finals. In celebration of this amazing accomplishment, a pep rally was held prior to the games for both teams. The girls basketball team ended up winning the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championship. Both teams had fantastic seasons! Lenape students hosted Passion Projects for teachers during a recent in-service. Topics ranged from investing, to journaling, how to use the weight room and more. Finally, Lenape just completed all of their performances for their spring musical, Shrek. The students and staff worked really hard to perfect the show and put on amazing performances.
Shawnee High School
Shawnee's winter musical Singing in the Rain closed at the beginning of the month. The cast and crew consisted of 14 seniors. They did an amazing job, and overall it was a huge success. Kids for Kids Wish Club is preparing for the teachers' talent show which will be held at the end of this month. The Shawnee Student Council also hosted another great blood drive.
Cherokee High School
Cherokee’s winter sports had a great ending to their seasons! Senior Bobby Poplau broke the school record for the 800 at the New Balance Indoor National Championship. The storm robotics team also saw the results of their hard work as they finished as finalists in the playoffs at their last robotics tournament. Cherokee DECA and FBLA members competed in Atlantic City with the hope of making it to the finals for their events. All Cherokee seniors are really excited about the upcoming senior trip, prom and many other senior events.
Seneca High School
The Seneca boys swim team made school history by winning their first sectional title. It was an amazing, record-breaking season for the swim team. On the topic of making school history, Belle Konopka became the first female wrestler to win a regional championship for not only Seneca, but also the LRHSD. Belle continued to break records when she competed in the NJSIAA State Championship at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and placed 5th. DECA and FBLA went to Atlantic City last week and competed at the state level. Seneca had 8 students who qualified or won awards for the National DECA competition, including Victoria Rutowski who took first place for Principles of Marketing. All 8 students will represent Seneca at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA. Lastly, Seneca recently hosted the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Robotics competition. 30 teams from around the tri-state area competed and all LRHSD teams placed in the top 8. The gym was filled with so much talent and excitement!
Lenape High School Student Presentation
Lenape High School Principal Tony Cattani introduced seniors Allen Monroe and Julia Moon. Allen and Julia gave a presentation to the Board of Education about academics, athletics, community service and the various school activities at Lenape during the 2023-2024 school year.
Shawnee High School Student Presentation
Shawnee High School Principal Matt Campbell introduced seniors Meredith Bandomer and Angelina Cooker who gave a presentation to the Board of Education about academics, athletics, community service and the various school activities at Shawnee during the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year.
