BOE Student Representative Monthly Report
Lenape High School
Most of Lenape’s accomplishments are going to be discussed from the students' presentations today, but as a member, I would like to shout out the Lenape Debate team for being league champions and league winners. It was a great season, and I’m so proud of everyone's hard work. Congrats to everyone!
Cherokee High School
Cherokee had an incredibly eventful and successful month of February. As the winter sports season came to a close, Cherokee athletics finished out the season in prideful fashion. Basketball Head Coach Cassidy earned his 300th career win. Girls basketball had an amazing run in the playoffs winning the South Jersey Group 4 Sectional, capping an amazing season. Additionally, Brielle Alaba scored her 1000th career point as a junior. Congratulations to sophomore Addison Gebhart on winning her second Girls Swim State Championship, breaking two school records and finishing first in both the 50 free and 100 free. Student Council organized a tremendous Seniors vs. Faculty Basketball Game, truly exemplifying Cherokee’s close-knit community. Cherokee also celebrated some academic wins, by inducting 184 Tech, Business, and FCS students into the Tech Honor Society, as well as inducting 97 students into the World Languages Honor Society.
Shawnee High School
Shawnee has been holding some very exciting events recently for their students and staff! First, they held a world language block party where all the language classes brought traditional dishes from their language’s culture. They also held the World Language Honor Society Induction to congratulate everyone’s achievements! To further celebrate the talents at Shawnee, they held a teacher talent show, where staff members showcased many different talents for the school. They had musicians, dancers, and singers. The show raised money for the school, and was a fun event to bring students and teachers together! Finally, Shawnee held a blood drive for students and staff, receiving enough blood to save almost 400 lives.
Seneca High School
Seneca held their spring blood drive at the end of February by having the highest number of donors compared to their previous drives. They are also excitingly waiting for one of their biggest events of the year, the Golden Eagle Pageant. During this time, 6 boy and 6 girl contestants were picked to create acts, raise money, and promote school spirit. This will go into April, where the students will be able to watch the groups perform skits, dances, and other events. Good luck to everyone going for the Mr. and Mrs. Golden Eagle title!
