NJ Register Ready - Special Needs Registry for Disasters
The Lenape Regional High School District is partnering with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) to improve the state’s emergency services ability to respond to residents with disabilities or those with special needs when a disaster such as Hurricane Sandy occurs. The “Register Ready Special Needs Registry for Disasters” is an online registry in which citizens can provide emergency response agencies with important information so that emergency responders can be better prepared to serve those individuals during a natural disaster or other emergency.
NJ Register Ready is a free, voluntary and confidential web-based program designated to identify the needs of people who may have special needs or have difficulty to get to safety in the event of an emergency. The confidential database can only be accessed by designated local, county and state emergency managers.
In support of NJOEM’s efforts toward disaster preparedness, families that may require special needs are encouraged to visit the NJ Register Ready webpage. The NJOEM Register Ready webpage contains information about the program and provides a link to register if needed.
The LRHSD and NJOEM encourage New Jersey residents with disabilities or special needs to sign up with “NJ Register Ready” well before an emergency occurs.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Lenape Regional High School District Security and Emergency Management Coordinator James Kehoe at 609-268-2000 ext. 558200.
