Emergency School Closing Information
Emergency Notification Methods
The goal of the Lenape Regional High School District is to provide timely and accurate communication during school emergencies. Numerous agencies at the local, county, and state levels collaborate during these situations to ensure the safety of our students and staff and to provide information as quickly as possible to families and the community.
In the event of an incident, timely and accurate communication with parents and guardians is essential. Students and parents are asked to avoid calling the school since all phones will be in use carrying out emergency closing procedures.
The LRHSD utilizes the following notification methods:
1. Notification System
• Phone Message
• Email
• SMS Text Message*
The Notification System operates by using the contact information we have on file for you. If you did not receive the test alert, or if your contact information changes at any time, please contact your child's counselor to revise your information. For more information about the notification system test, please reference the Security Drill Parent Letter.
*Please note: Please be sure to check with your carrier; LRHSD does not pay for message and data chares that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving the text messages.
2. District and School Websites
Emergency closing information will be posted on the district homepage and each high school’s homepage.
3. Television
The Lenape District has the capacity to broadcast, by remote control, weather or emergency related school closing information over Lenape District Television (LDTV) on Comcast channel 19 and Verizon channel 21. Weather related closing information will also be broadcast on several Philadelphia area television and radio stations including 6ABC, NBC10 and KYW-1060AM. The Lenape District emergency school closing number is 654.
