Mrs. Karrie Augustine Puco

Hola...

I am very humbled to be able to share my love of the Spanish language and culture with our students.

This is my 8th year teaching Spanish, my first in the LRHSD. I have teaching experience ranging from K-12.

Becoming a teacher has always been a dream of mine. I have a BA in Spanish Education from Georgian Court University. I am certified in Special Education, Spanish, and K-5 Elementary. I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to study in Madrid, Spain.

My goal this year is to focus and sharpen the listening and speaking skills of the students.  This will be done with an emphasis on contextual-based learning rather than memorization of vocabulary and grammatical rules. This means lots of speaking and listening to each other!  Interaction is key. There will also be a focus on correlating the Spanish curriculum to the core content curriculum at each grade level to make learning more meaningful and connected. Some content covered in the general classroom will be reinforced during Spanish class.  It's a win-win for everyone!

In addition to focusing on speaking and listening skills, I am teaching with a view toward increasing cultural and geographical awareness and tolerance for all ways of life. I hope to prepare our students for the rigors of learning a foreign language and give them basic Spanish skills for everyday life- even in our neck of the woods.
