Testing Overview

  • This Testing page includes high school testing information for New Jersey state assessments and college entrance exams. The side bar on the left list's specific assessments with links to other sites for more information. The charts below provide an overview.

    • If a student is permitted extra time or any accommodations by his/her IEP, the parent/guardian should contact the guidance office for additional details on accommodations and accessibility options.


NAEP

  • National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the largest nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in core subjects.  It is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), within the U.S. Department of Education. 

    Cherokee High School has been selected by the New Jersey State Department of Education (NJDOE) to participate in the NAEP testing. 


NJGPA

  • Listed below are the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) testing dates for LRHSD to be administered in October and March.



NJSLA

  • Listed below are the New Jersey Learning Assessments (NJSLA) testing dates for the LRHSD to be administered in May. 



AP Exams

  • The AP Exams are college entrance exams for grades 10, 11 and 12 and are not a graduation requirement.  The curriculum covered varies by AP course.

  • Art and Design: Friday, May 9, 2025 (8 p.m. ET), is the deadline for AP Art and Design students to submit their three portfolio components as final in the AP Digital Portfolio.  


PSAT-NMSQT

  • The PSAT-NMSQT is college entrance exam preparation for grades 9 through 11.


SAT

  • The SAT is a college entrance exam that is mainly for grades 11 and 12.  The curriculum covered is comprehensive English Language Arts and Math.

ACT

  • The ACT is a college entrance exam that is mainly for grades 11 and 12.  The curriculum covered is comprehensive English Language Arts and Math. 



ACCUPLACER

  • ACCUPLACER is a series of tests that evaluate students' skills in reading, writing, and math to help college administrators place them in courses that match their skills.
