      Seven of Shawnee's instrumental musicians were selected for the All-South Jersey Band and Orchestra: Phil Balint, Julie Ellis, Jamie Lee, Cadie Loftus, Nate Levas, Ryan Loughead, and Bryan McNaughton. These students were selected based on their successful auditions against other South Jersey high school musicians.

     Attention Shawnee Seniors:

    Any senior planning to continue on to a 2- or 4-year school next year should complete the ONLINE LOCAL AWARDS APPLICATION located on the Shawnee home page, beginning January 31, 2020. This one application form makes you eligible for one of the many awards presented at graduation in June. The deadline to complete the online application is February 21 – it will not be available after this date, so don’t delay!

    Many additional local and national scholarships are also available; applications can be downloaded from the Counseling Center page under Scholarships. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Zechman in the Counseling Center.

    Do the GLOBE! GLOBE Citizen Science club is a new club where anyone can do environmental citizen science! Join us and be a part of an international organization of students collecting data to help NASA scientists calibrate satellites. If you are a former CSEPer or enjoy environmental science this club is for you. Check us out at our first meeting during Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, January 15th in room C-202!

    The Culinary Club will be meeting on January 14th and January 15th after school in B-101 at 2:20 pm. The recipe selected by the club is Baked Ziti. Please sign into a kitchen outside of B-101 on the clipboards there to reserve your space! Bon Apetit!

    Sweetheart Dance:

    There will be a Sweetheart Dance hosted by the Class of 2022 on Thursday, February 13th at 7pm.  It is open to the entire student body and tickets are $10.

    19 members of the Shawnee Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America are state finalists. The students qualified by scoring in the top 8 in South Jersey regional testing in their chosen business topics.     Winter Instrumental Concert:

    Free to attend!  The concert will take place in the Auditorium on Tuesday, December 17th at 7pm.  

    Winter Break Begins:

    Winter Break is from December 21 - January 1st.  Last day of classes before break is Friday, December 20th and it is a full day.  Classes resume on Thursday, January 2nd.

    Please check with your coaches if your student plays a sport for each team's practice/game schedule.

      The next meetings of the Culinary Club will be held on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Winter break in B101. We will be making Fudgy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. Please be sure to bring your signed consent form and pay your $10 to Ms. Molz if you have not already. Also, sign up for your kitchen as soon as possible outside of B101. Come bake some quick and delicious cookies with your friends before the long break.

     If you are interested in attending the Prevention Program on Cooper University Hospital Traumatic Injury January 9 or March 5, please sign up in the Counseling Center. There will be an information session after Winter Break. Spots are limited and are given out on a first come-first served basis. If you have any questions, see Mr. Welsh in the Counseling Center.

    Student Council will be hosting a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on Friday December 6th.  Students should attend the Blood Drive assembly during L&L on Wednesday, November 20th to find out more about their eligibility to donate.

     Winter Choral & Instrumental Concerts:

    Shawnee will be hosting its annual Choral Concert on Thursday, December 12th & its annual Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, December 17th, each at 7pm in the Auditorium.  The concerts are free to attend and open to the public!

    The Shawnee Band Parents Association will be hosting a craft fair on Saturday, December 14th at Shawnee from 9am - 2pm.

     Peer Tutoring Lab:

    Peer Tutoring is held in C117 on Days 2 & 4 and the peer tutors offer their time and knowledge to help any students who wish to gain an edge, prepare for tests and quizzes, or brush up on their knowlege in a variety of subjects. 

    Come at the beginning of Lunch and Learn and bring your lunch - tutors will wait for 15 minutes and stay unitl the end of Lunch and Learn if needed.  No sign-ups are required!  Just drop in!

     DECA is selling Rubber Bracelets to raise money for their state charity (Good Grief).  Please see a DECA member if interested

     Shawnee Band Members Selected to the All-State Jazz Band Three members of Shawnee's Jazz Ensemble performed with the All-State Jazz Ensemble on November 15th in Atlantic City. Senior Peter Rushing, and Sophomores Kassidy Farnum and Nate Levas performed with the group as part of the New Jersey Education Associations Conference. The students were selected through a rigorous audition process against musicians from all around the State of New Jersey. Attached is a picture of the students. Any letters delivered to Macy's will earn $1.00 for Make-A-Wish America! It's that simple write a letter to Santa - ask him to fulfill a wish, maybe yours, maybe a child's facing a critical illness. Drop it off and the Kids for Wish Kids club members will take the letters to Macy's!

    German Club will be showing The Sound of Music beginning at 5 pm in the LGI on Tuesday, November 12. The film will end at around 8 pm.  
     
     
    The Homecoming Dance will be Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 7:00 to 10:00. Tickets will be sold during L & L starting Monday, Nov. 18th for $10.00 and also sold at the door the night of the dance. No outside guest or Alumni will be permitted at the dance. All students must have a School ID and no bare feet. Bring socks.
     
     
    The next Culinary Club meetings will be held on Tuesday, November 19th and Wednesday, November 20th after school in B-101. The recipe we will be making is Asian Dumplings aka Pot-stickers. Please sign in to a kitchen to reserve your space outside of B-101 on the clipboards there. 
     
     
     
    FBLA will be having its scheduled mandatory November meeting this Thursday, Nov 14th in the auditorium at 2:20. We will discuss regional testing. If you have any questions please see Mr. Rotindo.

    Biology club will be hosting a guest speaker this Thursday November 14th at 2:30 after school in room C-205. He is a professor from Rutgers Camden and will be discussing his work in Marine Biology and conservation.

    Attention Seniors - our Disney T-Shirt Design contest is now underway! Please sketch or digitally draft a design for the senior trip and submit your creations to Ms. Riddle or Ms. Woll. The design will be voted on by the senior class and the winners will receive a Riv gift card.
    The deadline for contest submission is Friday, November 22nd.
     

    The first meetings of the Culinary Club will be held on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving break in B101. We will be making Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies. Please bring $ 10-semester dues and a signed parental consent form if you are not food or Family and Consumer Sciences student. The Parental Consent form can be found outside of B101.
