Students from the Sequoia Alternative Program completed 10 weeks of community service at Beyond Balance Horse Farm on Friday, December 14, 2018. The partnership between the Sequoia Alternative Program and Beyond Balance offers our students the opportunity to develop skills that can't be acquired in a traditional classroom. During the 10 week program our students assist with barn, horse, and field maintenance while learning about therapeutic riding and how it can help people with special needs.
The students also learned about the importance and rewards associated with volunteering to help others. The students participating in this program earn 2.5 credits towards graduation and have the ability to earn 20 or more volunteer hours.
Beyond Balance is a volunteer-based not for profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives and experiences of individuals with disabilities through equine activities. The organization operates out of Morning Mist Farm, a privately owned facility in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
