The United States Drug Enforcement Agency has announced a second Prescription Drug “Take-Back” Campaign to be held on April 30, 2011.  The public can take expired or left-over prescription drugs to local sites for safe and proper disposal.  According to a DEA news release in October, 2010, “The American public turned in more than 242,000 lbs. of prescription drugs at more than 4,000 take back sites throughout the country.  More than 70 percent of people who abuse prescription drugs get them from friends or family – often from the home medicine cabinet.  Expanding take-back efforts nationwide is a key strategy in preventing prescription drug diversion and abuse, while safeguarding the environment.”
