Health Screenings

All students receive a health screening annually unless they have already received a physical exam required for participation in high school sports or as required for new student entry. The following assessments are conducted: height, weight, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI).  If a more thorough examination is necessary, the parent or guardian will receive a referral form.

Students in 10th grade receive a vision screening and those in 11th grade receive a hearing
screening.  Students in 9th and 11th grades will be screened for scoliosis [curvature of the back] as mandated by the state.  These screenings are typically conducted during the student’s physical education class.  Parents and /or guardians will be notified if any screening yields a deviation from the recommended standard.
