Seneca High School Athletic Eligibility
Seneca High School abides by the rules/regulations of the NJSIAA in regards to student eligibility. Below is a list of some of the eligibility requirements that affect you:
Fall and Winter Athletes
Incoming Freshmen are eligible for Fall and Winter Athletics
Students in Grade 10, 11, and 12 must have earned 30 credits during the previous school year
All students in grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 must have passed 15 credits at the close of the first semester.
An athlete becomes ineligible for high school athletics if he/she attains the age of 19 prior to September 1st. A 9th grade student becomes ineligible for freshman athletics if he/she attains the age of 16 prior to September 1st.
An athlete is eligible for eight consecutive semesters following their enrollment into 9th grade provided that the student athlete has not reached the age of 19 prior to September 1.
An athlete is eligible immediately if the transfer was a bona fide change of residency as defined as moving with a parent/guardian from one public secondary school district to another public secondary school district. A student-athlete transferring without a bona fide change of residency shall be ineligible to participate for a period of 30 calendar days or one half of the maximum number of games allowed in the sport by NJSIAA rules from the beginning of the regular schedule, whichever is less, in any sport in which the student has previously participated at the varsity level. Transfer forms MUST be executed by both schools and filed with the NJSIAA before any interscholastic participation.
