• Requirements for Graduation

    To qualify for a state-endorsed diploma, a student must have
    • completed the selected program of study appropriate to his/her needs and abilities
    • earned a minimum of 130 credits, including the required subjects listed on the Course Planning Worksheet viewed by clicking here (electives that satisfy the Visual Performing Arts, 21st Century Life and Careers or Career-Tech Ed, and Financial, Economic Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy requirements can be found here)
    • met the state graduation testing requirements (see below)

    No course may satisfy more than one of the requirements. Course expectations (District and/or NJ State Core Proficiencies) will be clearly set forth in writing for any course required for graduation and will be available to the student or his or her parents/guardians upon request to the classroom teacher.

    The Board of Education will provide opportunities for remediation to students who fail to meet required proficiencies.

    Graduation Testing Requirements
     
    New Jersey law (18A: 7C-6.2) requires all students to demonstrate proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. To qualify for a high school diploma under current law, students from the Classes of 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 must meet at least one threshold score in ELA and one in Math through a PARCC test score or a score on a designated substitute assessment (SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, ACT, ACT Aspire, Accuplacer, or ASVAB-AFQT) as listed below.
    Note: Class of 2020 students must take all PARCC assessments for which they are eligible in order for their scores on any substitute assessments to count toward meeting these graduation testing requirements.
