11-16-20 Notification of Positive COVID-19 Cases at Cherokee High School

  • Dear Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians:

This letter is to inform you that today we learned two individuals at Cherokee High School have tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The District is coordinating closely with public health officials and following CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our community.  Cherokee was able to investigate and determine the two positive cases are epidemiologically linked to each other and to an exposure outside of the school setting.

Per the guidelines from the Burlington County Health Department (BCHD), Cherokee may remain open tomorrow.  As of this date, there is no evidence of a COVID 19 spread from within our building.  Contact tracing has been completed. If you were identified as a close contact (within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or more over 24 hours), you have received an additional notification.  If you did not receive additional notification, no further action is required.

We appreciate our community’s support and cooperation. Any student or staff member who is being tested should notify the school nurse and remain home from school and all extra-curricular activities until a negative test result has been provided to the school nurse.

If your child does not feel well or has even minor symptoms, please keep your child at home and utilize our remote instruction. Should you have any questions about this situation, please contact me directly at 856-983-5140 ext. 229000 or School Nurse Melissa Molloie at 856-983-5140 ext. 230700.

    Sincerely,

    Donna Charlesworth
    Principal
