9-17-20 Lenape High School COVID-19 Info

  • Dear LRHSD Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians:

You may hear that Lenape High School will close tomorrow, September 18, through the weekend. This does not affect in-person instruction at Shawnee, Cherokee, Seneca, Sequoia and the TAP program.

The Burlington County Health Department (BCHD) recommended that we close Lenape High School after we learned this afternoon about a second confirmed individual with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at that high school. We distributed a letter earlier today to the Lenape High School community about our first confirmed case. The BCHD will take tomorrow and the weekend to thoroughly investigate whether there is an epidemiological link that could indicate that the two cases are connected. That information will help guide the decision about whether Lenape may close for a longer period of time.

The situation at Lenape is a reminder that we each need to do our part so schools can remain open for in-person instruction. It is a daily expectation that parents/guardians remain vigilant for signs of illness in their students and keep them home when they are sick. Although we are not collecting this form, please use the COVID-19 Daily Screening for Students/Staff to monitor your students.  As always, if you suspect you were exposed to a confirmed case, you should self-quarantine for 14 days.

Thank you for your support and cooperation. We want nothing more than to keep our students in school, but we need to prioritize the health of our community. We know that we can accomplish both if we work together.

Should you have any questions about this situation, please feel free to contact your building principal.

    Sincerely,

    Carol Birnbohm, Ed.D.
    Superintendent
    Lenape Regional High School District
