Lenape High School Closed September 18 - All Classes Will Be Virtual

  • Dear Lenape High School Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians:

We are under direction from the Burlington County Health Department (BCHD) to close Lenape High School for tomorrow, September 18th. The decision was made after we learned this afternoon of a second individual in our school community who tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). We are advised to take tomorrow and the weekend to learn more about a possible connection between the two cases and determine next steps.

Earlier today, we distributed a letter to the students, staff and parents about our first confirmed individual with COVID-19. We learned of the second case later this afternoon. Throughout the day, we have remained in close communication with BCHD officials as the status of this situation remained fluid and we gathered information to determine the best ways to protect our school community.

Lenape HS will close through the weekend to allow the officials from the BCHD to thoroughly investigate whether there is an epidemiological link that could indicate that the two cases are connected. That information will help guide the decision about whether Lenape may close for a longer period of time. BCHD will also work closely with our staff to identify and communicate with all possible close contacts. If you or your student are determined to have had close contact, you will be notified directly via email or a phone call.

In addition to closing the building, we are suspending all extracurricular activities during this time.

Tomorrow will be a remote Day 3 for all Lenape students and staff.

    Class 3: 7:30-8:15
    Class 4: 8:20-8:59
    Class 1: 9:04-9:43
    Class 7: 9:48-10:27
    Class 8 10:32-11:11
    Class 5: 11:16-11:55

We appreciate our community’s support and cooperation. You can assist us by remaining vigilant but sensible in your approach to dealing with this health concern. As always, if you suspect you were exposed to a confirmed case, you should self-quarantine for 14 days.

Should you have any questions about this situation, please feel free to contact me at 609-654-5111, ext. 339000 or School Nurse Suzanne Senchal at 609-654-5111, ext. 334100.
