November 21, 2014
Based on new information from the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), we are able to provide our school community with an accurate update following the November 20th shooting incident in Tabernacle.
This morning, the New Jersey State Police released the identities of the victims, which include three school-age children, a Seneca High School student Nicholas Harriman and two Tabernacle Township School District students, all siblings. Sadly, Nicholas and his sister are deceased. Their brother and mother remain hospitalized in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
Nicholas was a freshman who, although new to the school this year, was active at Seneca High School. A member of Seneca-Shawnee Iron Devils FIRST Robotics Team, he will be greatly missed as he and his teammates were preparing for this weekend’s competition.
We will continue to provide support and grief counseling for our students and staff during this sad and difficult time. Additionally, counselors will also be available for students on Saturday, November 22nd from 10:00 AM to noon in the Seneca High School cafeteria. We ask that parents please accompany their child. Please monitor your child’s well being and do not hesitate to contact the school's counseling department.
Thank you for your support,
Carol L. Birnbohm
Superintendent of Schools
