Two Graduations Presentation

Two Grads

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carol Birnbohm presented the Lenape District's "Two Graduations" Initiative to the Board of Education. The goal of this initiative is to emphasize to students the importance of developing and following plans beyond high school graduation that include college as a springboard toward careers. Various posters were recently created featuring alumni from all four LRHSD schools. These alumni all earned two diplomas and are now successfully working in their respective industries.
Understanding by Design Presentation

Director of Curriculum & Instruction Heather Xenakis gave a presentation to the Board of Education about Understanding by Design (UbD). UbD is the curriculum writing model that the Lenape District adopted where the curriculum is designed backwards from the long-term, desired results and focuses on teaching and assessing for transfer of learning. There is a UbD specialist at each LRHSD school. These full-time teachers are trained in UbD and, in addition to their teaching duties, are responsible for running the curriculum writing workshops as well as the curriculum editing and approval process.
